Color separation is where a design becomes printable. Every color in a screen-printed design needs its own screen, and separating the artwork into clean, correctly-trapped channels is what makes the print hit registration and look right on the garment. Bad separations mean halos, gaps, muddy colors, and screens that will not line up on press — problems that cost you shirts and press time.
The right separation method depends on the artwork and the garment. Spot color for clean, solid designs; simulated process for photographic art on dark shirts; CMYK for full-color on white; index for gradients and detail. We choose the method that gives you the fewest screens and the cleanest print, then build the separations with proper trapping, choke, and underbase so it presses cleanly.
