DST to PES: Convert Tajima to Brother — Free

Unlike a picture, a DST is already an embroidery file — so converting it to PES is a real, instant format conversion. Here's how to do it free, and the one thing to check afterward.

Why DST to PES actually works

DST (Tajima) and PES (Brother/Babylock) are both stitch files — they already contain the stitch coordinates a machine needs. Because the stitches exist in both, converting one to the other is a genuine format conversion, not digitizing. That's completely different from a PNG or JPG, which is just a picture and has to be digitized from scratch.

Convert DST to PES free, in seconds

Use our free embroidery file converter: upload your DST, choose PES as the output, and download — no signup, no email, and your file is never stored. It also converts to JEF, EXP, VP3, XXX, HUS and more.

The one thing to check: thread colors

Here's the catch. A DST file does not store thread colors — it only stores stitches and stop commands. PES can store colors. So when you convert DST to PES, the color sequence won't carry over from the DST (there's nothing there to carry). Your machine or software will let you assign colors after conversion, following the stop order in the file. If you need the PES delivered with the exact brand colors already set, that's something we handle when we digitize or re-color a design for you.
