Why a JPG won't convert straight to DST

A JPG stores a compressed grid of colored pixels. A DST (Tajima) file stores stitch points, colors, and machine commands. The machine needs stitch type, direction, density, underlay and sequencing — information a JPG simply doesn't contain. On top of that, JPGs add compression artifacts and often have busy or photographic backgrounds, which makes automated tracing even worse.

Any tool that promises to "convert JPG to DST" in one click is auto-digitizing, and on a real logo it produces gaps, wrong densities, blurred text, thread breaks and puckering. For anything going on a garment you'll actually sell or wear, the JPG needs to be digitized properly.
