PNG to DST: How to Turn a PNG Into an Embroidery File
A PNG is a picture made of pixels. A DST is a set of instructions that tells an embroidery machine where to put every stitch. They are completely different things — here is how you actually get from one to the other.
You can't just "convert" a PNG to DST
This is the part most people get wrong. A PNG stores colored pixels. A DST (Tajima) file stores stitch coordinates, thread colors, and machine commands. There is no button that reliably turns pixels into good stitches — the machine needs to know stitch type, direction, density, underlay, and sequencing, and none of that exists inside a PNG.
Software that claims to "auto-convert" a PNG to DST is really auto-digitizing, and on a real logo the result is almost always unusable: gaps, wrong densities, thread breaks, blurred small text, and a design that puckers or peels on the garment. For anything you are putting your brand on, the PNG has to be digitized by a person who understands embroidery.
